11/6/2023 0 Comments Fatal frame wii uproblemsWith the most recent few entries being quite easily accessible on various platforms, potential fans should take a chance on Fatal Frame. Though slightly underrated in the West compared to other horror series like Resident Evil or Silent Hill, it's an iconic franchise that features some of the best horror games of all time. While it's not always easy to get into the Fatal Frame series given how difficult it is to play some of the older games, they're definitely worth checking out for those with the means to access them. This release features upgraded visuals, new outfits for characters, and additional photo features, with the original game's Japanese lingerie and swimsuit outfits and the more wholesome Nintendo-themed costumes for the worldwide release being left out. However, it was remastered for eighth and ninth-generation consoles as well as Windows in 2021 for a worldwide audience. While there was a remake of the second game for the Nintendo Wii in 2012, it is perhaps even more difficult to find than the original because it was only released in Japan, and the Wii Shop channel has stopped service.įinally, the fifth main game in the series, Maiden of Black Water was released in 2014 in Japan and 2015 worldwide for the Wii U. The prior was released for both PlayStation 2 and Xbox, while the latter was only released on the PlayStation 2, making it even less accessible. The second and third games, Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly and Fatal Frame III: The Tormented, are similarly elusive. As such, the only way to play the game is by obtaining a hard copy of the game on one of the original platforms. However, since the PS3 store has shut down, there's no way for new players to access the game on that platform. The first game in the series, Fatal Frame, was released for the PlayStation 2 and Xbox before being made accessible on the PlayStation Network for the PS3. Hosted by 44 Bytes. The Fatal Frame series consists of five main entries, a remake, and one spinoff game and some of them are much more accessible than others. © 2023 Hookshot Media, partner of ReedPop. Fatal Frame: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse launches on the Switch later this week. Our thanks go out to Shibata-san and Fukaya-san for taking the time to answer our questions. This interview has been lightly edited for clarity. Shibata-san: I occasionally see spirits, and some of the spirits and staging are based on my own personal experiences. Do you believe in ghosts, and have you ever experienced a paranormal event? The Fatal Frame series puts a lot of focus on the existence of ghosts. Even if it does not appear clearly, it is certainly evidence that spirits are real. I think the fact that something that cannot be seen can be captured and recorded is intriguing to many people. Shibata-san: I believe that recording devices appear in many horror stories that deal with spirits. What do you think it is about this trope that makes for such effective horror? Photography and recording devices have played a big role in horror across several mediums for decades now. We felt the difficulty of creating a game in which the height of the viewpoint differs between cultures where people sit on the ground and cultures where people sit on chairs so I am deeply moved to finally be able to hear the feedback of these players. Shibata-san: This was the first game in the series to be set in a non-Japanese setting, such as Western-style buildings and a hospital, so we created it with Western players in mind. Since the original Wii game was only available in Japan, how important was it to you for Western audiences to finally experience Mask of the Lunar Eclipse? We hope that any of the titles will leave a strong impression on players. We have been working on this series, changing the theme each time and pushing through with the idea that we cannot make another one with the same theme. Makoto Shibata (Director/Scenario Writer): I am very delighted. Nintendo Life: How does it feel to see the Fatal Frame franchise continue to thrive more than 20 years after the first installment?
